This week at ADASS XXII

I'm at ADASS this week drumming up interest for AstDatCenTech. If you have any questions about the meeting I'll be standing in front of the poster at various times, or you can leave a comment here.

The main idea for the workshop is to give a venue for technical staff at astronomical data centers to share experiences with the various technologies underpinning our archives. While we all try to solve the same problems, we often do so in different ways - sometimes one platform works great for one group, while another tries it and rejects it for something else. While there are venues such as ADASS where we can talk about the astronomer-facing services we provide, there isn't such a venue for "back-room" folks, who often don't get funded for conference travel anyway.

So, AstDatCenTech is intended as a low-cost venue requiring no formal presentations to allow technical staff to exchange experiences and solutions. If you or someone else at your observatory or archive is interested in participating please contact me (frossie at noao) or leave a comment.
